About the Role (Amazon Fulfillment Center): Join the team at Amazon, the world's most customer-centric company. We are hiring 'Entry Level' Warehouse Associates for our Joliet, IL Fulfillment Center (MDW2). This is a fast-paced, physical role where you will be at the heart of our operations, helping to pick, pack, and ship customer orders. 'No experience' is required; we provide comprehensive, paid, on-the-job training. If you are a reliable, motivated individual who thrives in a team-oriented environment and is looking for a role with benefits and career growth, this is the job for you. Your New Career – The Role: As an Amazon Warehouse Associate, you are a critical part of the fulfillment process. Your responsibilities will vary based on your department (e.g., Inbound/Stow, Outbound/Pick/Pack). You will use cutting-edge technology, including handheld scanners, to manage inventory and process orders. This is a physically demanding job; you must be able to stand and/or walk for your entire shift (8-12 hours), lift packages up to 49 lbs, and be comfortable with continuous bending, stooping, and pushing. We operate 24/7, and schedules include 'day shift', 'night shift', and 'weekend shift' options. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: Your career starts with a paid, multi-day training and orientation program. 'No experience' is needed. We will teach you everything: * **Safety First:** You will learn Amazon's rigorous safety standards, including proper lifting techniques, equipment use, and how to navigate the warehouse floor. * **Technology:** You'll be trained on the handheld scanners and devices that are essential to your role. These devices will guide you, track your performance, and ensure accuracy. * **Process Training:** You will be assigned to a specific department (like Picking, Packing, or Stowing) and receive hands-on training from a dedicated Learning Ambassador to master your assigned task. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your 'workday' is structured and active: * **Start of Shift:** You'll arrive for your 'night shift' (e.g., 7:00 PM), stow your belongings in a locker, and join your team for a brief stand-up meeting. This meeting covers safety tips, daily goals, and any important announcements. * **At Your Station:** You will go to your assigned station. If you are an 'Order Picker', you will use your scanner to find items on multi-level shelves and place them in totes. If you are a 'Packer', you will be at a packing station, scanning items, selecting the correct box size, and taping/labeling packages for shipment. * **Physical Activity:** You will be active your entire shift. Pickers may walk several miles. Packers stand, pivot, and handle packages continuously. You must be able to lift up to 49 lbs. * **Breaks:** Your 10-hour 'night shift' will include scheduled, paid breaks. * **End of Shift:** You will clean your work area, log out of your station, and check out with your manager before heading home. The Lifestyle – Schedule & Environment: This is a warehouse environment. It can be noisy, and temperatures may vary. The schedule is structured. Full-time is typically four 10-hour shifts per week. For example, a 'night shift' + 'weekend shift' schedule could be Friday-Monday, 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM. This schedule means you get three days off per week, but you must be reliable for your assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. Why Amazon? This is more than a job; it's a career. Amazon offers competitive 'entry-level' pay, with 'night shift' and 'weekend shift' differentials often available. You also get 'Day 1' benefits, including comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) with a company match. Plus, Amazon's 'Career Choice' program may pay for your college tuition.
