About the Role (Delivery Service Partner - DOT): This is a specialized 'Prime Driver' role for a Delivery Service Partner (DSP) operating out of the Shafter, CA delivery station. We are seeking drivers for our DOT (Department of Transportation) regulated vehicles. These are larger, step-van style trucks (non-CDL, but DOT medical card required) used for delivering larger packages and higher-volume routes. As a DOT Driver, you are a key member of the 'last-mile' team, representing Amazon with a high degree of safety and professionalism. This is an 'entry-level' driving role ('no experience' with this specific vehicle is required), but it demands a high level of responsibility. We provide and pay for all training, including DOT certification and your medical card physical. Your New Career – The Role: As an Amazon Prime Van Driver in our DOT fleet, your primary responsibility is the safe operation of a 10,000+ lb. vehicle and the accurate, on-time delivery of Amazon packages. You will manage a larger route and vehicle than a standard cargo van driver. This is a physically demanding, fast-paced job that requires a strong commitment to safety protocols, DOT regulations, and customer service. You will be on your feet, in and out of the truck, and lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs) throughout your shift. This is a full-time, 4-day work week (four 10-hour shifts) that includes 'weekend shift' work. 'Day shift' schedules are standard. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: This is a 'no experience' necessary role, but it has specialized training, all of which is paid: * **DOT Medical Card:** The first step is passing a DOT physical exam to obtain your medical card, which we schedule and pay for. * **Vehicle & Safety Training:** You will receive extensive, specialized training on operating the larger step-vans, including pre-trip/post-trip inspections (DVIR), safe backing, and maneuvering in tight spaces. * **DOT Compliance:** You will be trained on DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and how to maintain an accurate electronic log (ELD), although most local routes are exempt. * **Delivery Process:** You will learn the standard Amazon delivery process using the 'Rabbit' handheld device for navigation, scanning, and customer service. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your 'workday' is a 10-hour 'day shift' focused on safety and volume: * **Morning (Load-Out):** You'll arrive at the Amazon Delivery Station, perform your detailed DOT pre-trip inspection, and log your duty status. You will then load your larger vehicle with a high-volume route (often 250+ packages). * **On the Road (Delivery):** You will spend the majority of your 10-hour shift driving and delivering. Because you are in a larger vehicle, you must be hyper-aware of your surroundings, avoiding low bridges and weight-restricted roads. You will be physically active, managing larger and sometimes heavier packages, and climbing in and out of the step-van. * **DOT Compliance:** You are a regulated driver. You must be diligent about your vehicle inspections and (if required) your hours of service, taking all mandated breaks. * **End of Shift (Check-In):** You'll return to the station, return your handheld device, present your post-trip inspection report, and check out with your DSP team. The Lifestyle – Schedule & Environment: This role is for the dedicated professional who enjoys the responsibility of a larger vehicle. You are outdoors in all weather. The 4-day workweek (with three days off) is a significant perk. 'Weekend shift' (Saturday or Sunday) is a standard part of the schedule. You will be an employee of a local DSP, not Amazon, giving you a small-team feel with the backing of a global logistics leader. Why this DOT Role? This is a step up from a standard delivery job. It's a great 'entry-level' path into the professional, regulated side of the transportation industry *without* needing a CDL. You gain a valuable DOT certification (your medical card) and experience in a high-demand field. Your DSP provides the vehicle, the fuel, the training, and a full benefits package, offering a stable career with room to grow.
