About the Role (Delivery Service Partner): Join a local Delivery Service Partner (DSP), an independent company that delivers packages for Amazon. We are looking for dedicated, reliable, and customer-focused individuals to join our 'last-mile' delivery team based in Lamont, CA. As a Last Mile Delivery Driver, you are the face of Amazon, responsible for ensuring packages arrive at customers' doors safely and on time. This is a full-time, physically active role in a fast-paced environment. This is an 'entry-level' position where 'no experience' in commercial driving is required. We provide a comprehensive, paid training program that fully prepares you to be a safe and successful delivery professional. Your New Career – The Role: As a Last Mile Delivery Driver, your primary duty is the safe and efficient delivery of a high volume of Amazon packages. You will operate a modern, Amazon-branded delivery van (a standard cargo van or a larger step-van based on route) and use advanced handheld technology ('Rabbit') to navigate your route and manage deliveries. You are an independent problem-solver on the road, handling customer interactions, navigating diverse neighborhoods, and overcoming daily delivery challenges. This is a full-time role, typically structured as four 10-hour shifts per week, which means you get three days off. You must be available to work 'weekend shift' rotations and holidays, as we are a 7-day-a-week operation. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: Your new career starts with a paid, multi-day training program. 'No experience' is necessary. Our training ensures you are confident in every aspect of the job before your first solo route: * **Vehicle & Safety Training:** You'll receive classroom and on-road training to master the safe operation of our delivery vans. This includes pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIR), defensive driving techniques, and safe parking/backing procedures. * **Technology Training:** You'll become an expert on the handheld 'Rabbit' device, which provides your turn-by-turn navigation, package scanning, and customer delivery instructions. * **Delivery & Customer Service:** You'll learn the 'last-mile' delivery process from start to finish: how to efficiently load your van, manage your package manifest, follow customer delivery notes (e.g., 'leave on back porch'), and handle any delivery issues with a professional, customer-first attitude. * **On-the-Road Experience:** You will shadow an experienced driver and then be observed on your own route to ensure you meet all safety and performance standards. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your 'workday' is a 10-hour 'day shift' that is structured and active: * **Morning (Load-Out):** You'll arrive at the Amazon Delivery Station in Lamont, check in with your DSP team, and perform a pre-trip inspection of your assigned van. You'll then proceed to the loading bays, where you will load your van with 150-250+ packages for your route, organizing them based on the 'Rabbit' device's plan. This is a fast-paced, 15-20 minute process. * **On the Road (Delivery):** For the next 8-10 hours, you will be on your own, following the route provided by your 'Rabbit' device. You will be exiting and entering the van frequently (up to 200+ times per day) to deliver packages. This is a highly physical job; you will be walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and climbing stairs in all weather conditions. * **Problem-Solving:** You will manage any on-road challenges, such as finding difficult addresses, navigating apartment complexes, or contacting customers or dispatch for support if you run into an issue. * **End of Shift (Check-In):** After your last delivery, you'll return to the Delivery Station. You'll drop off any undelivered packages, return your handheld device, and complete a post-trip vehicle inspection. You'll check out with your DSP, and your day is done. The Lifestyle – Schedule & Environment: This is not a desk job. You will be working outdoors in all weather conditions. The typical schedule is four 10-hour 'day shift' schedules per week, such as 10:30 AM - 9:00 PM. A 'weekend shift' (Saturday or Sunday) is almost always required. This schedule provides three days off per week, offering a great work-life balance for those who enjoy a compressed workweek. Why a DSP? Working for an Amazon DSP means you get the best of both worlds: the stability and advanced technology of Amazon, combined with the personal, team-oriented culture of a small business. Your manager knows you by name and is dedicated to your success. We offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits (which Amazon itself does not offer to 'gig' drivers), and opportunities for advancement into lead driver or dispatcher roles. This is a chance to build a real career in the booming logistics industry.
