About the Role (Amazon Fresh): Join the fast-growing world of online grocery delivery with Amazon. We are looking for customer-focused and reliable individuals to be Amazon Fresh Delivery Drivers, based out of our Chicago, IL warehouse. This is a direct 'entry-level' employee position with Amazon. Unlike 'gig work,' you will be provided with an Amazon-branded vehicle and all the tools you need for your shift. You will be responsible for delivering Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market orders directly to customers' doors. This role is all about customer service and reliability, as you are handling time-sensitive and temperature-controlled items (groceries, produce, frozen goods). 'No experience' in delivery is necessary; we provide comprehensive, paid training to get you started. Your New Career – The Role: As an Amazon Fresh Delivery Driver, your primary duty is to provide an exceptional customer experience by delivering grocery orders accurately, on time, and with a friendly attitude. You will use an Amazon-branded van and a handheld 'Rabbit' device to manage your deliveries. This is a physical, active role that involves lifting and carrying grocery bags (up to 50 lbs) and navigating multiple stops in residential neighborhoods. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be available for various shifts, including early 'day shift' (for morning grocery orders) and 'weekend shift' rotations. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: Your career begins with a paid training program that prepares you for the specific demands of grocery delivery: * **Vehicle & Safety:** You will learn to safely operate our delivery vans and use the provided safety equipment. * **Technology & Scanning:** You'll be trained on the handheld 'Rabbit' device, which manages your route, scans items, and provides customer notes. * **Grocery Handling:** You will learn the specific procedures for handling temperature-controlled items, including insulated bags and frozen goods, to ensure food safety and quality. * **Customer Service:** We will train you on our customer service standards, including how to handle attended deliveries (handing to the customer) and unattended deliveries (leaving at the door). A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your 'workday' is focused on local routes and customer interaction: * **Start of Shift:** You'll arrive at the Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods delivery station for your 'day shift' (e.g., 8:00 AM). You'll check in, get your route and vehicle assignment, and perform a pre-trip inspection. * **Load-Out:** You will go to the pickup area where pre-picked grocery orders, sorted by route, will be waiting. You'll scan and load the totes and bags into your van, ensuring chilled and frozen items are in the correct temperature-controlled bags. * **On the Road (Delivery):** You'll follow the route on your handheld device, delivering grocery orders to customers. This involves parking safely, carrying multiple bags to the customer's doorstep, and following their delivery instructions precisely. Some deliveries may require customer interaction. * **End of Shift:** After your last delivery, you'll return to the station. You'll unload any delivery supplies (like insulated bags), return undeliverable items, and complete your post-trip vehicle inspection. You'll check out, and your shift is complete. The Lifestyle – Schedule & Environment: This role is perfect for those who enjoy driving, interacting with people, and having an active job. You will be working outdoors in all weather conditions. We offer both full-time and part-time schedules. Shifts are typically 8-10 hours. As grocery delivery is a 7-day-a-week business, 'weekend shift' availability is essential. You'll be a W-2 employee of Amazon, eligible for Amazon's comprehensive benefits. Why Amazon Fresh Delivery? This is a fantastic 'entry-level' opportunity to join Amazon directly. You get the stability of being an Amazon employee, with a set schedule (unlike Flex) and access to Amazon's full range of 'Day 1' benefits, including health insurance and paid time off. We provide the vehicle, the fuel, and the technology—you just bring your safe driving skills and customer-first attitude.
